who was three at that time. And now,
we’ve had people right up to 85 years old
getting their hair cut here. We would like
to give back to the community in the form
of a great service. I feel that the Subang
Jaya community and people around this
area and my fans come and visit to show
their support to the barbershop. Even on
the second day, we hadWak Doyok come

The idea of the restaurant on the
other hand, came about when Joe and
his friends (who happen to be fans of
mafia-themed shows like
The Godfather
,
Goodfellas
and
The Sopranos
), noticed
that there is always a scene of a man
cooking. Despite their characters, they
had passion for their food and took it
seriously.

for the restaurant. The exterior boasts

Why SS15, Subang?
As he grew up in Subang Jaya, the place
holds many fondmemories for him. “This
is where Too Phat started. Sitting by these
corridors is where we got a phone call
which asked us whether we had a name
for our group as we were confirmed for
a gig. So, we had to think of a name that
very night,” said Joe with a smile.
Inspired by his travels in NewYork and
looking at Frank’s Chop Shop, Joe saw
the simplicity and thought that he could
do something like it in Malaysia, since
back then there were hardly any men’s
grooming shop with a similar concept.
“I am very fussy when it comes to
cutting my hair, despite having a bald
hairdo. I still have a certain way for it to
get cut,” shared Joe.
In the beginning, most of the barber-
shop’s patrons comprised Joe’s family and
friends from Subang Jaya.
“Our first customer was my nephew,
look about it, what with its earthy, red
brick walls and the curly, stylised logo
emblazoned across the glass diner win-
dows. With that setup, the restaurant
comfortably seats around 20 people inside
with room for an additional 10 outside.
Joe’s Kitchen
Serving Western style dining cuisines
including pastas, pizzas, burgers and
other snacks, Joe’s Kitchen has three floor
staff and four chefs. Surrounding the walls
of the restaurant, one can’t help but notice
the walls are decorated with famous
posters and pictures of hip hop artistes.
More importantly, the food is not just
glitz and glam, but great on the tongue
and eyes too. For appetisers, we highly
recommend the fried macaroni balls,
mozzarella sticks and tomato bruschetta.
A popular appetiser, the fried macaroni
balls that come in a set of three topped
with homemade marinara sauce are loved
