Firef ly Celebrates Eighth Anniversary

anniversary with the
theme being CELEBRA8.
This year is expected to
be a flourishing one with
its new fare packages in
place with FlyPremier and
FlyBasic; its recent implementation of
FPX – a real time online payment option;
its collaboration with Peugeot Lounge at
Subang Skypark where Firefly customers
can experience Peugeot Lounge’s facilities
at half the price of walk-in customers rate
– RM25 instead of RM50 and the arrival of
its fifth new ATR 72-600 aircraft, making
it a total of 17 aircraft in the fleet to-date.
Firefly’s CEO, Ignatius Ong said,
“Today we celebrate our anniversary
of operating for eight years. From our
offering of six destinations in 2007, we
now serve ten domestic and eight regional
neighbourhood destinations while our
fleet has grown from three Fokker-50s
to 17 ATR 72 series aircraft. The number
of passengers carried has grown tremen-
dously from390,000 in 2007 to 2.2million
last year. We foresee a double-digit growth
in 2015, while at the same time expanding
our route network further and committing
to maintain a clean slate on safety in the
years to come.”
In conjunction with the celebration,
Firefly rewarded its loyal customers
with 88,888 free flight tickets, excluding
airport taxes, GST and surcharges, to
all its destinations. There was also an
on-going ‘Captain’s Draw’ on all Firefly
flights, whereby 88 lucky passengers were
selected to be in the running to win an
exclusive Firefly notepad each. Firefly
also gave away Furious 7 movie screening
tickets to lucky loyal Firefly customers
and partners.
“This anniversary campaign is spe-
cially put together as our way of thanking
our customers for choosing Firefly as
their preferred airline. The 88,888 free
flight tickets on all Firefly flights will
enable more travellers to enjoy a hassle
free holiday that is easy on the wallet
and allows them to experience our Firefly
hospitality,” explained Ong.
Ong further added, “The management

past eight years, we would not have been

Firefly,
in collaboration with Tourism Malaysia Penang, sponsored 11
journalists from Kuantan to participate in a three-day media familiarisation
trip to Penang from Kuantan, Pahang from March 24 to 26, 2015.
During the three-day trip, all 11 journalists experienced Penang’s
interesting cultures and traditions, a variety of authentic signature food,
unique heritage buildings and experienced the newly developed tourism
products. The official hotel for all three days was Neo + Hotel located on
Jalan Gurdwara in Georgetown.
