meaning of being a mother is endless. She
is your protector, the one who disciplines you
and also a friend at times when you need one.
A mother would sacrifice her wants and needs
to satisfy your wants and needs. She is a selfless
human being. Just by seeing your own mother
or friends around you who are mothers, can
perhaps be the most rewarding experience for you.
On Mother’s Day we not only appreciate them or love them,
but also feel that everyday should be Mother’s Day – a cliche as
that might sound -- it is in fact true. During Mother’s Day, we
celebrate and honour all mothers around the world. This is a
dedication to mothers – single mothers, grandmothers who are
mothers, stepmothers, godmothers and the list goes on ...
Dear mothers,
We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all the sacrifices you’ve made and continue to make for us.
The day you brought us into the world, the unconditional love you’ve showered on us and always making
sure that we are safe and secure, will always be etched in our memories of you.
Your love for us knows no boundaries and regardless of when we are babies or adults, your love has always
been there. The irregular feeding times, the nappy changes and your sleepless nights – all to see us become
happy and healthy.
Our mothers constantly worry about us – our first fall, when we catch the flu or even when we go out on our
first date. They always think about us before themselves. Mothers make sure their children get the best food,
best clothes and take them to the best places for visits. And for all that, are we not blessed?
During the process of us growing up, some of us might have been a handful for them while others would
have been easier to nurture. Sorry mum! For making you worried and anxious about how we would fare
in our exams and the type of friends we mix with. You are always there to not only to advise us but also to
assure that everything would be fine. Mothers are always there to hold our hands, hug us and say it will be
‘okay’ or to just give us that extra nudge in life. Nobody is a better friend than a mother.
And the career mothers? … One cannot forget them getting up early in the morning, preparing breakfast for
their school-going children, rushing to work and again rushing back home after work to prepare the meals
for their families, ensuring their children get their homework done and of course tucking them in their
beds. All this and yet they do not show that the day’s chores have taken a toll on them or their lives. Many of
us maybe missing all that now, so, spending quality time with you dear mother, is magical and fulfilling.
Mothers are always there to share our joy and proud moments and even now, though some of us are miles
away from them, they do not hesitate to speak with us via Skype, email or other facilities provided on the
social network.
As we get older and even if some of us have become mothers now, we sit back, let our thoughts wander and
realise your worth and about how much you have done for us, dear mother.
