Automotive In-

the weekend
and Fakrul Jamil is trekking to the far
corners of the country – and sometimes
the world – to wade into lakes and hang
off cliffs in a bid to capture the perfect
picture.
When Fakrul describes himself as “ex-
tremely passionate” about photography he
is not overstating the case: known to rise
at 4am to catch the sunrise,
or stay outside all night long
in freezing temperatures just
to snap the stars, Fakrul is
as committed to his craft as
he is talented, driven by his
desire to share natural beauty
with others.
“Photography satisfies my
creative nature,” he explains,
“it’s fun and exciting. I al-
ways love to see beautiful
views, hence I want to share
them with the world.”
Fakrul is something of a
late recruit to photography,
having acquired a DSLR cam-
era just five years ago with
no idea how to use it. Even
then, it wasn’t for another
two years – in 2012 – that
Fakrul committed himself to learning the
art of taking photographs, lapping up any
information he could get his hands on.
“I’m a self-taught photographer; the
world wide web is my best friend,” he
laughs, stressing that “practice makes
perfect” once the basic knowledge has
been acquired.
It was landscape photography that
Fakrul was drawn to, inspired by a lifelong
passion for beautiful views and the natural
splendour around him. What started as a
hobby has grown, along with his skills,
into a blossoming professional sideline to
his full-time work.
