that will never be repeated because of the
tide moving the fallen tree.”
It is the moments and the experiences
behind the pictures that bring Fakrul such
pleasure, and he is committed to develop-
ing his skills further in the coming years
with dreams of pursuing photography on
a full-time basis.
“In ten years’ time I would like to
be a full time landscape photographer
travelling around the globe, with a small
peaceful place to live in New Zealand.
That would be some dream, but who
knows right?”
Despite his love of travel and aspira-
tions to settle abroad, Fakrul admits that
nothing can interfere with a deep-rooted
affection he has for his own, beautiful
country, landscapes of which appear often
in his images.
“It’s good to take pictures of Malaysian
landscapes to attract people to my coun-
try,” he says.
“Malaysia is my home. No matter how
far or wide I roam, Malaysia will always
come first in my heart.”

Fakrul sells his images online and has
recently partnered with Sony Malaysia to
be a Sony Alpha Camera Ambassador. He
also undertakes professional assignments
that transport him to some of the world’s
most spectacular places – an experience
that has been one of his favourite aspects
of becoming a photographer.
“I love travelling!” says Kedah-born
Fakrul delightedly, and lists Norway and
Iceland as top of his destination wish-list.
His work has taken him as far as Europe
with a trip to New Zealand scheduled for
mid-2015, but his most memorable trip so
far was to the Canary Islands:
“I was at 2000m high above the blue
Atlantic Ocean, looking down at the
rugged mountains with sea of clouds
covering the Caldera town during sunset
until nightfall. It was just breathtaking.”
The shot he secured is equally stunning
(Caldera Panorama)
, although when
asked to select a picture he is most proud
of, he plumps for The Guardians, a gor-
geous image that captures sunset at Pantai
Kelanang in Banting, Selangor.
“The timing was perfect,” he says of
the photograph. “I was at the right place
at the right time and I captured a moment
