What is The Gastro Project?
The
first thing you’ll notice as you step into
The Gastro Project (TGP) is its combination
of classic black and white chequered tiles,
set against white and burgundy walls.
To add more character to the place, the
walls are adorned with enlarged posters
of Hollywood stars like Jack Nicholson,
Samuel L. Jackson, Julia Roberts, Johnny
Depp and Angelina Jolie.
Nestled in Section 17, Petaling Jaya,
this semi-fine dining, neighbourhood
restaurant was inspired by the gastro pubs
founder Dr Roshni Menon used to frequent
during her stay in England. The restaurant
was launched in January 2013 with only
one mission – to serve good food at an
affordable price in a cosy atmosphere.
The main dining area on the ground
floor fits around 40 diners while the upper
deck is a more chilled out area to dine
and relax.
TGP’s menu is a mix of Italian, Euro-
pean, Indian and Japanese cuisine, which
translate to diners having a wide choice of
dishes to try.
What should you eat?
You
can start your meal with the mush-
room tart, which is a delicious caramelised
mushrooms and onions’ dish served on a
homemade crunchy
polenta
base.
Pizza lovers will be pleased to know
that TGP does a variety of interesting
pizzas. A must try is The Indian pizza. It
is made with spicy chicken
perratal
with
cucumber
raita
, sliced red chillies and
paneer
. These flavours all come together
to provide a delicious taste experience.

The
Gastro Project is located at No. 25,
Jalan 17/56, Section 17, Petaling Jaya.
The restaurant opens from Mondays to
Thursdays from 11am to 11pm, Fridays
from 11am to 12am and weekends from
