I actually had to turn down deserts,
which is something that I seldom do. The
homemade cakes all looked amazing but
I was just too full. Simply d hits all the
right notes and the food and drinks here
are delicious, affordable and healthy. Be
good to yourself and go check it out.

As Allen was going to be joining me for
lunch, I left it to his discretion to select
the dishes that I would be trying. The
first of this was the
Chilli Chicken Pasta
.
The Simply d twist to this dish is that
pan mee
was used instead of a traditional
pasta. One of the great things about the
concept is that you can change the type
of pasta that you want, choosing from the
selection that is offered. This dish was
delicious. Light, spicy and very tasty. The
combination of the chicken, mushrooms,
egg,
ikan bilis
and
sambal
all went to well
together. Served with a side of anchovy
sauce, this is a real party in your mouth.
Allen shared with me that a lot of
research and development takes place
before a dish or particular combination is
put on the menu. He works very closely
with his team to ensure that only the best
gets on the menu.
Next up was another pasta dish, the
Salted Egg Pumpkin Pasta
. This pasta
dish is another perfect example of how
Simply d seamlessly merges the cuisine
of East and West. The pasta used in this
was
fusilli
, but again, there is the option
of changing the pasta. The pumpkin was
perfectly baked and added to the salted
egg after. The flavour combination of the
sweet from the pumpkin and the saltiness
from the egg was a perfect marriage.
Stunning!
Meat me halfway
I had a real craving for a burger and was
hoping that Allen had picked one (or five)
Delicious milk shakes
Pesto Chicken AvocadoWrap
The Greek Burger
for me to try. As if reading my thoughts, a
burger was set down in front of us. It was
Simply d’ s signature lamb burger called
The Greek Burger
. This brand prides itself
on serving healthier burgers. Yoghurt is
used instead of mayonnaise or ketchup,
though these condiments are available at
a side station for you to help yourselves.
The lamb patty was perfectly cooked,
not dry, still holding its juices and flavour,
served on a homemade brioche. That was
truly one of the best burgers that I have
had in Kuala Lumpur. All the bread used
in the outlets are baked fresh daily, which
just means that it is healthier for you, as
no preservatives are used. As a nod to the
burger culture, this dish did come with a
side of fries.
The
Pesto Chicken Avocado Wrap
was the next selection. Simple, tasty,
wholesome. Pesto chicken mixed with
shredded cucumber and avocado in a
wrap. The cucumber gives it an amazing
fresh, crisp accompaniment to the pesto
chicken and avocado.
For those who want something a bit
lighter, the
Chicken Ranch Salad
is the way
to go. Crisp salad leaves, grilled chicken,
avocado, cranberries, turkey bacon and
ranch dressing.
Shake me up, baby!
There is an amazing choice of milkshakes
and soft drinks to try, many of them
featuring stunning choice combinations.
In keeping with the healthy theme, the
milkshakes are made using low fat milk.
Low fat and healthy does not mean low
flavour as the Nutellamilkshake that I had
was lighter but tasty.
