omedy
in Malaysia is growing,
with great interest and support from
its audience resulting in more up
and coming comedians launching
their careers into the scene. This is
definitely a thing, with the current
demanding lifestyle leading people
to look into available channels for escapism. Laughter
is always a good cure for our worries and stress. With
the numbers of comedy shows and competitions on
television, the local comedy scene is venturing into
a new territory, which is stand-up comedy.
Stand-up comedy shows like
Lawak Ke Der
have been garnering a lot of attention for offering
something different from what local audiences are
used to. Show producer Hans Isaac’s trial and error
method in introducing the show in Bahasa Malaysia
for the first time on stage at Istana Budaya really paid
off. After its stage debut back in 2012,
Lawak Ke Der
is now entering its fifth instalment which will take
place in Singapore this month.

first ever Singapore show, with a lot of spontaneous
jokes in between!
