Berhad (KPJ) to deliver
quality healthcare ser-
vices continues with
the transformation of a
hospital into a new am-
bulatory care centre in Kuala Lumpur.
This new ambulatory care centre, which
is known as ‘KPJ Tawakkal Healthcare
Centre’ (THC), was officially launched
by YB Dato’ Sri Rohani Abdul Karim,
the Minister of Women, Family and
Community Development.
THC houses several niche services,
namely a specialist dental service (KPJ
KL Dental Specialist Centre), a compre-
hensive rehabilitation centre (KPJ KL
Rehabilitation Centre), haemodialysis
services, eye specialists (KPJ Centre for
Sight), as well as an aged care facility (KPJ
Senior Living Care).
KPJ Senior Living Care is one of the
unique value adding services offered in
THC. Being one of the of the few Malay-
sian healthcare service providers to have
invested in long term aged care services,
KPJ is firm in the belief that demand for
this service will reflect the needs of the
ageing population of this country.
The centre caters for three categories
of residents, namely long term, short term
which is a short stay for rehabilitation
purposes and day care. It also accepts
post-stroke patients and post operative
patients, these being the third category,
who require assistance and care. In ad-
dition, KPJ’s Senior Living Care services
are supported by KPJ’s other established
services including specialist healthcare
and hospital-based facilities.
KPJ Senior Living Care received its
first patients in August 2014 but the idea
behind it began much earlier. With the
population of those aged 65 and above
growing, KPJ decided to invest in services
with an emphasis onmeeting their special
needs. As it is currently a new concept in
Malaysia, the team of KPJ Senior Living
Care is working on overcoming current
and upcoming challenges.
