ity service in just about any sector and
industry. Even the greatest products and
services will encounter unexpected errors
and malfunctions. Without good support
staff, it will be difficult to get problems
rectified. An airline like Firefly relies on strong maintenance
and support systems to keep them running smoothly. Having
someone like Wan Mohd Irfan Bin Mohd Zahari is important in
ensuring the smooth running of operations and the passengers
utmost satisfaction when flying with Firefly.
What areyour responsibilities as aSenior Executive, Engineering
Support Services?
My responsibility is to lead the Aircraft Support Shop. As a leader
of Support Shop, I have to look after Aircraft Sheet Metal (ASM),
Paint Support Shop and Composite Support Shopmetal (excluding
structures like aircraft panels, spoilers and exhaust panels).
Canyou tell us a littlemore about your background?
I was born and bred in Machang, Kelantan. I received my higher
education fromMalaysian Institute of Aviation Technology (MIAT)
in Sepang, formerly known as MARA Northrop Rice Institute.
After graduation, I started working with Composite Technology
ResearchMalaysia (CTRM) inMalacca as a Technician to produce
Airbus A330 aircraft spoilers for two years. Following that I joined
Transmile for six years.
What sort of skills andknowledge is needed for your position?
In order to get the job done effectively, one needs to understand
the company’s policy and DCA (Department of Civil Aviation)
regulations. There are procedures and processes that need to be
learnt and adhered to. Having the right attitude will also make
the work more enjoyable. I believe in getting the right things
done with the right intentions.
Whatwereyoudoingprior tobeingappointedaSenior Executive,
EngineeringSupport Service?
Back in 2010, I joined Firefly as part of the core team that help
set up Firefly’s engineering division. The team had started from
zero to the point where we could self-sustain the engineering
department to function on its own.
