The Laughter
La Risata, meaning “the laughter”, are
two lively restaurants in the suburbs of
Ampang andMedan Damansara that have
been serving great Italian food since 1996.
I was invited to their Medan Damansara
outlet to sample a selection of their food
and was greeted by the sounds of laughter
as soon as I walked in through the door.
The restaurant iswarm, homely and rustic,
featuring simple wooden tables and open
kitchens. The kitchen is broken up into
two sections, one part of it being where
starters andmain courses are prepared, the
other section being where the pizzas are
made. The customers are able towatch the
chefs in action and see the freshly prepared
food being picked up and served.
Start me up
We were seated in a private dining room
and served our starters. Out first was bread
served with an olive
tapenade
to dip in.
The
tapenade
was a brilliant combination
of flavours from the black olives, capers
and anchovies. I had to restrain myself
from having too much of the bread with
this dip as I knew it would fill me up too
much. Next up was La Risata’s take on a
Insalata Verdura.
The salad was a combi-
nation of grilled zucchini, red capsicum
and eggplant, topped by a moist and
flavorful Portobellomushroom. Delicious!
Chicken Liver Pâté
and a
Grilled Pump-
kin Salad
were the next two starters
served. The
pâté
was rich and melted in
my mouth while the pumpkin salad was
