Buddha statue, built in 1972, has become
one of the island’s main tourist attractions
and a major landmark. The statue depicts
Buddha in a state of calm and resolve,
having overcome temptation and fear sent
at him by Mara, Lord of Illusion. Known
as the Mara posture, the left hand rests
palm open and up in the statue’s lap, the
right hand facing down over the right
knee, almost to the ground. Absolutely
while my breakfast digested before swim-
ming a few laps.
After a shower andmakingmyself look
presentable, I hopped in another taxi to
the Big Buddha Temple, which took about
ten minutes. Wat Phra Yai , also known
as the Big Buddha Temple in English, is
a Buddhist temple on Ko Phan, a small
island located the northeastern area of Koh
Samui. The giant, 12-metre high golden

breathtaking.
I checked out of the
resort feeling rested and like a new man.
In a pool of hotels and resorts, The Park
Samui certainly stands out as one of
the better places to get a little rest and
relaxation. The service and facilities are
second to none and I am already planning
my next trip back.
