A Unique And Intimate Getaway

desire for aweek-
end getaway was
sated when The
Park Samui agreed
to host me. It had
been a while since
I visited Koh Samui
and, having heard a lot of good things
about this property, was looking forward
to a nice relaxing weekend. The Firefly
flight was smooth and I was at Koh Samui
before I knew it. The resort is only about
five minutes away from the airport and
soon enough I was checking in. Kurt, the
host and his Thai wife were on hand to
greet me with big smiles.
Mod Cons
The Park Samui is located on the north
point of Koh Samui, on a peaceful hillside
covered with palm trees and is just a
five minute drive to the beautiful Chong
Mon Beach. This resort has created a
unique holiday destination, surrounded
by lush nature and it is very tranquil. I
was taken to one of the 24 spacious and
well-designed holiday apartments, all of
which are a very good size. They are a spa-
cious 170 sqmand feature a fully equipped
kitchen, WiFi and satellite television. All
the apartments face the beautiful tropical
garden and pool area.
Each unit can accommodate up to
4 people with two bedrooms and three
bathrooms, are beautifully furnished and
are perfect for a family with kids, couples
or a group of friends. One of the best
things about this resort is that they offer
all the services of a hotel but with much
more space, privacy and peace for the
individual guest.
After a quick shower, I strolled around
the property, marvelling at the sheer
volume of...quiet. This really was what
I needed, a nice soothing balm of peace
and quiet. This resort has two pools, one
of them being a salt water one, a gym and
a spa. For the more adventurous, car and
bike rentals are available.

I felt the need to go out and explore and
Kurt was kind enough to suggest that I
head to Choeng Mon beach. The beach is

roughly about five minutes away from the
resort and it tookme absolutely no time at
all to get there. The beach was absolutely
gorgeous but quite busy. Parasols dotted
the stretch and there were many people
sunbathing and splashing around in the
sea. There is no shortage of choice for
restaurants and bars here.
Feeling quite thirsty, I headed into the
nearest bar and slackenedmy thirst with a
few beers. The other customers in the bar
were a friendly, chatty bunch and the few
beers stretched to a few more. I watched
a beautiful sunset before heading back to
the resort.
After a good night’s sleep on a very
comfortable bed, I feasted on a delicious
breakfast that was delivered to my door.
Kurt’s wife does all the cooking and the
food was just brilliant. Fresh juice and
coffee, fresh fruit and an omelette set me
up for the day. I just lazed by the poolside
