Six Pack Or A Barrel?

It
is quite safe to say that many men are obsessed with their abs. Abs grace the covers of men’s fitness magazines as well as
advertisements and guys often feel that not having them is a cardinal sin. It is important, though, to maintain a fit and healthy
physique. It is mainly for health purposes and not so much about looking good in one of those compression t-shirts that are
worn a lot at the gym. Here are five facts about ripped (or not so ripped abs) that will hopefully ease your mind and simmer
down your abs obsession.
Now reset your fitness goal and burn all those magazines with the word ‘abs’ on the
headlines. Go ahead and ask your lady friends or colleagues and see how many of them
even care about their other half having ripped abs.
You cannot simply do abs exer-
cises to get rid of the fat there but
ignore other areas just so that you
can get your six pack. You still
have to do strength training for
the entire body to see the result.
According to
independent.co.uk
, one in six of us is genetically pre-disposed to
gain little or no benefit from exercise. In achieving a six pack for instance, the
shape of your abdominals determines howmuch percentage of body weight that
you need to lose. The lucky ones might have twelve percent of body fat but are
already showing signs of a visible six pack. Unfortunately, there are some who
are at seven percent body fat, yet still struggling to reveal the bottom of their abs.
You are not failing your fitness
goal if you do not get the ripped
abs that you want. Think of all
the benefits that you get from
exercising. If impressing the ladies
with your six pack is the only
reason for hitting the gym in the
first place, you’ve got it all wrong.
An article in
about.com
suggests
“accepting that your body works
as a whole and not in pieces and
parts”, which is so true.
You can do crunches and other ab-
dominal exercises until kingdom
come but they will not result in an
instant six pack or even a toned
flat stomach, unless you also
work towards losing fat. These
exercises will help strengthen
the abdominal muscles but that
is about it. Fat burning exercises
are also needed.
Starvation is not the best way to
get a flat stomach. Yes, you will
lose unwanted fat and shed the
pounds quickly...but ripped abs?
Not so much because you still
need to exercise the area and in
order to exercise you need energy
which you can get only by eating
healthy.
