Here Come The Mains!
Looking around, it is quite obvious that
the restaurant’s specialty is its
tonkatsu
.
It is not part of the restaurant’s name
for nothing. For those not in the know,
there are two main types of
tonkatsu
;
fillet and loin. The dish is often served
with shredded cabbage. At Tonkatsu
by Ma Maison, the 19th century dish
is also served with rice,
tonjiru
(miso
soup with pork) and pickles. You can
choose to have either plain steamed
rice or
jyukkokumai
(whole grain rice).
There is also a flat bowl consisting of
three compartments ready on the table
for you to grind rock salt and pour your
choice of Sweet or Spicy
tonkatsu
sauce
into. All set menus here are served with
these refillable sides.
Tonkatsu by Ma Maison uses only
the highest grade ingredients from the
Hire
(fillet) to the
Rosu
(loin) and all are
prepared to perfection. The juicy and
tender meat, is the result of Ma Maison’s
own special preparation methods. If
pork is not really your first choice, there
are also non-pork
katsu
available like
Mille Feuille Cheese Katsu
(chicken),
Jumbo Ebifurai
(prawn) and
Kakifurai
(oyster). All of these are served the same
way as the pork selections and do not
compromise on the taste or authenticity
of the original
tonkatsu
.
If you are looking to explore Japanese
cuisine beyond the usual
sushi
and
sashimi

Publika Shopping Gallery is just the

ance that is different from other Japanese
