Ng has yet to experience being in an
international production the closest being
when she was cast as an extra in Ang
Lee’s Oscar-winning movie
Lust,Caution.
She went all the way to Ipoh to audition
for a speaking role but was told that Lee
was actually looking for a lady in her
forties. She literally begged to be taken
as an extra so she could be on set and
hopefully meet the director. Although
Ng was all set and ready in her costume
the whole day, she was never called
to be in the scene. Now that is serious
determination!
“It was a very interesting experience
nonetheless. I had a lot of fun observing.
Plus I got to hang out with Lee Hom and
Ang Lee. What more could I have asked
for?” says Ng.
When asked about the nature of her
job as an entertainer, Ng tells us that she
travels for work and leisure almost every
other week. She travels back to Penang
from KL for work and to be with her
family. Her hometown is also her most
favourite place on earth to relax and
unwind. From the sun, the sand and the
sea, the island has it all. If it gets too hot,
there is always the forest and Penang Hill.
The street food is delicious.
Bagan, Myanmar, has been the most
inspiring and memorable travel destina-
tion for her so far. She had the most
magical experience visiting the ancient
ruins and getting to know the beautiful
people of that country. “I can’t compare
there to to Malaysia. It’s two different
experiences. We have the best of both
worlds here. We’ve got the best island
destinations and if you’re looking for a
little bit of adventure, there’s so much
to explore within our rainforests. All so
easily accessible from the cities too where
you get to shop and eat to your heart’s
content,” says Ng.
A huge fan of the great outdoors, Ng
is always up for an adventure. In fact,
her ultimate dream holiday destination
is Norway as she wants to sail through
the fjords and go on horseback through
the mountains.
