from Kuah. The park is more than just a fruit plantation and breeding ground for farm
animals like deer and goat. A quick hop onto the farm tour shuttle will take you on a
trip with magnificent views of comforting greenery. There is a quick stop at the fruit
restaurant where one can taste the freshest star fruit, pomelo, watermelon and banana.
There are a few sheltered vegetable production farms at the park which include
a rain shelter structure for fruit and vegetable production, hydroponics and an
insect-proof structure for leafy vegetables. This is an amazing place to visit for those
are into gardening or just curious about the growing process of the vegetables and
fruits that you get from the market.
The View!
The Langkawi cable car, also known as Langkawi SkyCab, is where to go to get over
your fear of heights. A bit scary at first but once you reach the highest point, you
start to think of nothing else other than how stunning the view is.
The journey begins from the Base Station located at the foothill of the
Machincang
mountain. Upon reaching the Middle Station at an elevation of 650m above sea level,
you will be able to alight and walk up to the viewing platforms to enjoy the panoramic
view of the main island as well as the many surrounding islands. At the Top Station, at
an elevation of 708m above sea level, a short climb up a flight of stairs will take you to
the two viewing platforms at the top of
Machincang
mountain providing 360 degrees
panoramic views of the Langkawi islands and Southern Thailand. How wonderful!
They next time someone says that they have done Langkawi to death, just ask
them if they have ever experienced any one of these!
Pulau Dayang Bunting
is well known
for its shape as it resembles a pregnant
woman lying down. Local folklore says
the island took shape after a pregnant
woman was tortured and killed. It is also
where Dayang Bunting Lake is located.
The lake is just a short hike from the jetty
where activities like kayaking and fish spa
are available. All the islands are a perfect
stopover for a swim or to just enjoy the
magnificent view of the white sands and
blue skies.
Pulau Singa Besar
is where
you can find eagles flying around with
their majestic wings. If you are lucky
enough and it is feeding time, you will
be able to see up to 40 eagles flying low,
close enough for a good picture.
The Mardi Agro Technology Park
might not be on the top of everyone’s
list to visit when in Langkawi but there
is surprisingly, plenty to see at the park
which is located just 10 minutes away
