, a multi layered platform
for experiences and activities
spurred by this region’s unparal-
leled love affair with food and
drink, was launched successfully
at Taste of Tiffin. The inaugural
event, Tiffin Throwdown, saw
sliders being cooked fast and furious for the
hungry crowd.
Slider heaven
Smoke drifted past my face as I walked through
the war zone. The smell of meat permeated
the air, making my nostrils twitch. The smell
was overwhelming. The smell was...heavenly!
Seasoned meat being cooked on hot grills, along
with onions and other spices. 10 burger giants.
10 different types of sliders to try, a slider being
a smaller, tasting version of the full sized burger.
It was quite obvious that the business of
burgers was being taken very seriously here.
Every booth had their cooks hard at work grilling
up and preparing their burgers. You may think
that a burger is just a burger. Well, you would be
wrong about that. Yes, the core ingredients are
the same. A bun and a patty. It is the add-ons
that make things so exciting and sexy.
The winning burger, for example, show-
cased rendered Aussie beef patty, topped with
Californian swiss cheese, shiitake and enoki
mushrooms, dressed in a truffle infused mayon-
naise, oyster sauce and bonito powder. Bonito
powder is made from fish that fall in the tuna
family. All of this was then placed in a charcoal
bun. And it was delicious.
