an end. FromTheGrammy to
Brit Awards, these are some
of the albums that you need
to get your hands on.
And The Award
Goes To ...
James Bay emerged unto themusic scene just aswewere in
dire need of a newbreed of singer-songwriters. Hailing from
the United Kingdom, Bay’s debut albumdelivers a collection
of smooth acoustic guitar driven songs about his shift from
small town to pursue his passion inmusic, aswell as intimacy
and relationships. The first single
Hold BackThe River
was
a huge success, climbing up charts all over the globe. But it
was the second single,
Let It Go
, that really touched the core
of every fragile soul when Bay sang about the struggles
of maintaining a relationship that is being tested by life
changes.
Baywas thewinner of Best Male Solo Artist at the Brit
Awards 2016.
Tori Kelly startedwritingmusic in her teens before uploading
her videos to YouTube and auditioning for American Idol.
Despite her unsuccessful attempt at the singing competi-
tion, Kellywas offered a recording contract last year that led
to the release of her hit debut album.
Listening to this album is like taking a trip back in time,
revisiting albums by female vocalist like Lauryn Hill and
Natasha Bedingfield. There are some songs, however, that
seema little bit too over-produced. The second single
,
Should’ve Been Us
, would have sounded better without
the over-the-top pop arrangement. Overall an impressive
debut,
Unbreakable Smile
is sneak-peek to bigger things
that this young talented singer has to offer.
Kellywas nominated for Best NewArtist Awards at the
58
th
Grammy Awards.
