Can you tell us a little more about your
background?
I was born in Penang. I came to Kuala
Lumpur to study and graduated from
University Putra Malaysia. This has been
my first and only job after I completed my
studies in mid - 2011.
What sort of skills and knowledge is
needed for your position?
Eye for details, flexible, spontaneous;
ability to adapt to constant change and
withstand productivity pressure is es-
sential in this department.
How much has your previous experience
helped you in your current role?
Honestly, my background experience is
verymuch different compared to Network
and Scheduling. However, the planning
skills, meticulous patience, passion and,
most importantly, the right attitude help
me to strive forward in this role.
What is a typical day for a Network and
Scheduling Assistant Manager like you?
After breakfast, I will be in front of the
computer with my daily aircraft rotation
plan with a pencil for drawing the draft
schedule plan, using the flight schedule
system do up the flight planning, then
issue the service change notice. Last but
not least, I will implement and complete
the flight schedule systems update. We
are always on the lookout for any changes
in the flight movements or airport traffics
which requires our action on rescheduling
of the services.
What do you like the most about your job?
The adrenaline rush. Each task received
has a different level of priority and the
tasks come in continuously. Everything
has to be completed quickly and ac-
curately. Failing that, it will delay the
entire airline operations. Hence, we are
always chasing and competing with time.
What is themost challenging part of
your job?
Time is always of the essence. Under a
stressful environment, we will have to
ensure our minds stay focused and sharp
to complete the task within the timeline.
How do you manage to achieve a work-
life balance?
I appreciate every moment spent with my
family and friends. Sometimes all it takes
is a simple cup of tea at the coffee shop
or taking a short stroll along the beach.
If you were not the Network and
Scheduling Assistant Manager for Firefly,
what would you probably be?
Perhaps I will try my luck on cabin crew
recruitment.
Do you have any parting words of wisdom
to share for those who wish to work in
your industry?
Always have the right attitude and pas-
sion in your job. It’s about loving what
you are doing.
Have you travelled to any Firefly
destinations? Do share with us one of
your memorable travel experience either
with friends or family.
I travel a lot to my hometown, Penang
with Firefly. Nothing beats family’s
