and scheduling are ev-
erything in just about any field,
especially in airlines operations.
Without proper scheduling, air-
lines systemwill not be able to run
smoothly, affecting passengers
who are taking flights. Firefly’s
Network and Scheduling Assistant Manager Teh
Beng Leng is the key person who is in charge of
flight planning and implementation. Her crucial
role in this department help eachs flights to take
off on time without any unavoidable delays and
time clashes.
What are your responsibilities as a Network and
Scheduling Assistant Manager?
Network is the cream of the airline as the opera-
tions of the airline are driven by the airline sched-
ule. We work closely with various departments for
production of operating patterns for our summer
and winter seasonal schedule.
Before finalisation of each seasonal operating
pattern, slots at various domestic and regional
airports will be negotiated and secured at the
IATA Slot Conference. To implement the seasonal
schedule, application for landing and overflight
has to be submitted to the aeronautical authorities
for all the domestic and regional countries to
which we operate and overfly the airspace.
All the above approvals have to be secured
before commencement of the season. Besides
that, we also undertake ad hoc and day to day
schedule changes, for example, mounting of extra
flights, charter flights, rescheduling of services to
avoid airport closure due Air Defence Exercise and
Aircraft Flying Display.
