ribs may seem like
a strange pairing,
but do not knock it
until you have tried
it. Already a “must try” place in Bali, it is
said that a trip to Ubud does not count
until you have eaten at Naughty Nuri’s,
especially after Anthony Bourdain
claimed that they had the best martinis
in the world.
One does not have to go to Bali to put
this claim to the test as Naughty Nuri’s
now has four outlets in Kuala Lumpur.
Smelling the tantalising scent of meat cooking,
Fireflyz
makes a beeline to
Naughty Nuri’s at Desa Sri Hartamas, Kuala Lumpur to sample some of the
delicious meat dishes that are served and manages not to make too much of a
mess from the sauces.
But Oh So Nice
Martini dance
The restaurant itself is a very charming,
unpretentious place. Open and breezy, it
is nicely lit with simple tables and chairs.
It is place where serious eating is to be
done, where things may get a bit messy.
Hence the napkins that within easy reach
on each table.
I started off by ordering a
Lychee
Martini
, but in pure Naughty Nuri’s style,
having a martini become a song and
dance number … literally. There is this
thing that they call the “Martini Dance”,
which is performed at the table when the
drink is ordered.
The staff form a line and start dancing
and singing while one member of the
team shakes the martini and pours it in
the glass which has already been laid on
the table. It was very entertaining and a
great way to get a drink served.
The martini was delicious, the
sweetness of the lychee was cut through
with the bite of the vodka. It is true what
is said about the martinis here - they do
pack a punch.
