Ancient City
The best way to tour the vast Thai
kingdom both historically and geo-
graphically is to spend a day at Ancient
City, also known as Muang Boran. The
sprawling 320-acre outdoor museum
features 116 life-size or scaled-down
versions of Thailand’s most significant
landmarks and monuments that have
been replicated or reconstructed from the
original. Each structure is even placed
in their proper geographic position,
corresponding to their actual location.
