The Kahaani, Malacca
The meal that I enjoyed most would
definitely be the Nyonya tea set, which
featured authentic Nyonya kuih and a
selection of fine tea that was enjoyed in
the cosy setting of the Nyonya Room – the
dining roomwithin the hotel. Despite hav-
ing a choice of Western or local delights,
I decided to bring myself closer to home
with a Peranakan touch. As a guest at
Kahaani I had the privilege to choose
where to have my meal, be it within the
comfort of my suite, by the poolside, on
the balcony or in the dining room. All I
needed to do was to let the staffs know
ahead of time.
The mansion’s pool, which is sur-
rounded by a wading area with hydro
massage jets, a mini-island and water
features makes it the perfect place to take
a dip, or to indulge in some fun and games,
especially if the kids are around. The
serene atmosphere by the poolside also
makes it the ideal place to lounge around
and I took the opportunity to catch up on
my favourite novel.
Events, weddings and functions can
also be held at The Kahaani. The property
has two function rooms – The Batik is a
board roomstyledmeeting room, equipped
with a projector, laptop and audio-visual
facilities, while The Sutera is a function
room that can accommodate a maximum
of 200 people, making it suitable for small
dinners or events.
The grand décor andmajestic structure
of The Kahaani makes it a suitable venue
for pre-wedding photo shoots, where
couples will be able to make full use of
the magnificent settings within the hotel,
such as the spiral staircase and the Nyonya
Room, which I was told was a popular
choice for coupleswhowish to take photos
in their traditional wedding costumes.
Weddings and private functions can also
be organized on the mansion’s vast lawn.
A mere five minutes from the Ayer
Keroh Tol Plaza, The Kahaani is the perfect
getaway from the hustle and bustle of
Malacca Town. The lively town, just 20
minutes away, is home to popular tourist
attractions such as Jonker Street, Fort A
Famosa and many more, not forgetting to
mention the abundance of food in various
cuisines.
Guests who wish to enjoy Malacca’s
many tourist spots can do so as a limousine
service can be arranged. Airport transfers
to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport
and Low Cost Carrier Terminal are also
available.
