Brunch with Character
– Mr. & Ms. Café
Nestled
in the serene Oasis Ara Daman-
sara is a homely, cozy café calledMr. &Ms.
Café which you would notice with their
unique logowhich consists of amoustache
and lips. The spacious café gives you the
privacy you need as the tables are not
huddled too closely together, ensuring
that you enjoy your meal with comfort. A
work of love that was started by partners
Jee Chen (JC) and Alex, one of the secret
to the café’s success and popularity is
the mutual trust and respect that these
two partners have for each other and the
shared vision in watching their business
grow to greater heights.
“People often mistaken the café to
be ‘Mr. & Mrs. Café’, and that we are a
husband and wife team, but that’s not
true as we are just business partners who
happen to be really good friends as well.
In fact, I often think of him as an older
brother.” JC informs.
The name of the café represents the
partnership that the two share. ‘Mr.’ refers
to Alex, the chef who was born and raised
in Penang before embarking to Australia
where he honed his skills as a breakfast
chef is Perth and Melbourne, while ‘Ms.’
refers to JC, a young entrepreneur enthu-
siastically attempting on her first food and
beverage business with Alex, whom she
met as a student in Australia.
Indeed when sitting down to have a
chat with this dynamic duo, I couldn’t help
but feel that their meeting in Australia is
more than just a chance encounter as the
two had not known each other previously
in Malaysia.

fresh and top quality ingredients, from
the hollandaise sauce used for The Eggs
Atlantic, to the pancake batter and but-
terscotch sauce used for the Butterscotch
Pancakes.” Alex tells me.
Among the must-try brunch signa-
tures that the café has to offer are the
Butterscotch Pancakes, Eggs Atlantic
and Spicy Baked Egg with Sausages. A
breakfast favourite, the soft, light and
fluffy pancakes made with buttermilk
were drizzled with a generous amount
of yummy, aromatic butterscotch sauce.
Topped with caramalised bananas and
berries to complement the pancakes, this
dish will definitely have you coming back
for more!
The Eggs Atlantic is the ideal dish for
fans of smoked salmon as generous slices
are served on thick wholemeal toast with
eggs Benedict and rich, buttery hollandaise
sauce on top. The poached eggs were
cooked to perfection as they were velvety
and the smooth, and the runny yolk was
a lovely sight when the eggs were sliced
open. The Spicy Baked Egg with Sausages
is a dish that packs a punch of flavour as
it consists of sausages, baked eggs, spices,
olives andminted yoghurt served in a little
pot accompanied with wholemeal toast.
To sum it up, the food served Mr. &
Ms. Café is not overly sweet or salty, and
it is a place that you would want to visit if
you’re up for healthy, comfort food with
a nice, authentic taste. The café is nicely
decorated as well, and each table even

carte items on the menu such as pasta and
sandwiches. The best part about the food
here is that the recipes are all self-created
and made from scratch by Alex, who
doesn’t use any MSG, preservatives or
colouring in his dishes.
