An Exotic Brunch – Mediteca
My
next destination in the pursuit of the perfect brunch took me to Mediteca, with
unlimited servings of cold cuts, cured meat and cheese galore! The all-you-can-eat
Mediterranean Buffet Brunch features unique dishes from countries like Italy, Greece,
Spain, France, Turkey, Tunisia, Croatia and Lebanon that you wouldn’t find anywhere
else, accompanied by Italian Val D’oca Valdobbiadene Prosecco.
Helmed by owner and chef Riccardo Ferrarotti, Mediteca was conceptualized to
be, as he puts it, “a tapas bar that not only features Spanish food, but a larger view of
Mediterranean cuisine that expands into Europe to give Malaysians an outstanding
dining experience. The challenge is to
capture a new palate and to make people
discover different variety of food that goes
beyond the classical and rhetorical dishes.”
If you’re up for something other than
the usual brunch offerings, then Mediteca
is the place to be where you’ll find a whole
spread of Mediterranean delights, from
salads to desserts. Dig into salads such as
the Pinzimonio Salad, Pasta Salad, Fennel
and Orange Salad, and the Sicilian Tomato
and Onion Salad that’s not only great for
health, but a kick to the taste buds as well.
I couldn’t get enough of the fresh cold cuts such as the cured Porchetta Ham, Salami,
Spicy Salami Chorizo, Panchetta and Serrano Ham that were freshly carved using a
specially imported industrial slicer and plated before your eyes.
The meal wasn’t complete without the wide selection of pickles that tingled your
taste buds and brought more ‘oomph’ to the dish. The selection of pickles were such
as Balsamic shallots, pickled shallots, pickled zucchini, pickled fennel, fig jam, spicy
mango chutney, onion jam and tomato chutney – it was definitely hard for me to pick
a favourite.
Delightful desserts, namely the Choco and Amaretti Pudding and Berries Genoise
were the perfect way to end the scrumptious meal at this gorgeous eatery with its high
ceilings andwide space, giving it an elegant andmodern appearance. With lots of natural
light flooding in, Mediteca is definitely the perfect place to just chill out and spend time
with family and friends over a heartyMediterranean brunch.
If you can’t get enough of the cold cuts offered here,
you’ll be glad to know that Chef Riccardo also
owns Bottega Mediterranea, where you
will be able to find top-quality imported
SouthernMediterranean food products such
as fresh and aged cheeses, fresh meat, cured
meat, halal cold cuts, pasta, balsamic vinegar,
white and black truffles and many more.
