Chinese New Year Splendour at Empire

Shopping Gallery officially kicked off
its Chinese New Year festivities this year with
the splendour of an ancient Chinese setting. The
presentation of a scroll with an auspicious message
to symbolise prosperity by an acrobatic performer
to Elena Lee, Centre Manager of Empire Shopping
Gallery, marked the official launch of Empire
Shopping Gallery’s celebration.
Patrons of themall were able to enjoy traditional
Chinese art and craft activities during the festivities
planned to usher in the Year of the Horse. While
appreciating the beauty of the mall decorations
inspired by ancient Chinese art that take themback
to the Chinese NewYear celebrations of yesteryears,
shoppers are also given the opportunity to exercise
their creative skills at three kiosks offering hands-on
lessons on traditional crafts such as paper cutting,
clay figurine sculpting and knotting art.
To further fire up the excitement this Chinese
New Year, various other activities were also
organized by Empire Shopping Gallery such as
the Double Lion Dance Blessing with a Happy
Face performer, performances by a five-piece drum
troupe and shows by a China acrobat troupe with
their renowned lamp contortionist dance, group
acrobatic act, displays of strength, balancing acts
on planks, spinning rugs, roller skating and juggling
skills with balls and hula hoops and bowl juggling
while on a unicycle.

NESCAFÉ
Cans together with Shaheizy Sam showcased the much-
anticipated single Bangun to media and 20 lucky fans. The single,
resulting from the ‘People Powered’ Nescafé on Sam campaign, was
inspired by the 50,000 inspirations submitted by Sam’s fans during the
campaign period. Nescafé Cans has created this opportunity for Shaheizy
Sam to work with the renowned composer and producer Audi Mok,
the single – featuring local artist Liyana Jasmay. This marked Sam’s
return to the recording studio.
Via the Nescafé on Sam campaign, NESCAFÉ Cans helped realise
Shaheizy Sam’s musical dreams and further connected him with
his loyal fan base both online and offline. The actor-singer had long
wanted to return to the recording studio, spurred by enthusiastic
encouragement from his fans. The campaign enabled Sam’s fans to
forge a closer connection with their idol, through the collaborative
nature of the Nescafé on Sam project, where his fans were encouraged
to contribute to the lyrics for the new single, by submitting inspirations
on Facebook, YouTube and Twitter.
