and Taiwan will also be participating
and at each art fair, we pick a country to
highlight. In 2014, it happens to be artwork
from Moscow.
Speakers from European cities will be
present to talk about various art techniques
used by Russian artists. The hosting hotel
and Russian restaurants will participate by
having their chefs serve Russian food for
the duration of the fair.
Who are some of the artists who have
participated in the Art Apart Fair?
We have had Park Hyun Su, Antipov Patel,
Morenova Alena, Haruka Cho, Deepa
Khanna Sobti, Antonov Roman and many
more. We anticipate that more than 300
artists will participate in the upcoming
art fairs in 2014.
What isyourpersonalexperiencewithart?
I started off by buying artworks in the
late 1970’s for decoration purposes, but
only started to collect seriously in 1994
where I collected Chinese and Vietnamese
contemporary artwork. While working as
a PR andMarketing Consultant for amajor
international gallery, I sold the artworks
of both established and emerging artists
such as Ai Wei Wei, Matt Mullican, Lee
Etheredge IV, Andy Warhol, Michael
Graves and Marie Maillard.
I assisted in curating, handling media
relations, directing the design of art cata-
logues and producedmarketing collaterals.
In organizing the Art Apart Fair, I travelled
to Europe and around Asia to visit gal-
leries, artist studios and museums to
understand the varieties and depth of the
artworks of past and present contemporary
artists
Whatmotivatedyou tostart theArtApart
Fair?
While doing consulting work for an in-
ternational art gallery, I saw that many
promising artworks were rejected by the
art gallery so I thought it is a good idea to
create a platform to help these artists find
an audience.
What is your hope for the exhibition in
the future?
I would like to build an international brand
and gain international recognition by being
present at art hubs around the world. This
year will be an exciting year as the first
Art Apart Fair in London will open from
October 17 to 19 at Town Hall Hotel on
Bethnal Green, and Art Apart Fair in New
York andMilan is set to take place in 2015.
I would also like to establish an Interna-
tional committee of art curators, gallerists
and artists to ensure high standards of
exhibitedworks and develop art education
programs for artists and art lovers, as
well as set up residency artist programs
to bring artists from around the world
together to exchange ideas for creativity
enhancement.
Art Apart Fair 2014 – the Fourth
Editionwill highlight Russian Artists’
art works, with Russian Character
Artist present to paint portraits,
Russian art experts to give talks
and Russian Art Performance. The
largest curated Russian Artworks
will be on display for public viewing
and acquisition. Galleries andArtists
from more than 15 countries will be
in Singapore, where the island state
will be transformed into one of the
top attended satellite art events for
collectors, artists, curators, criticsand
art enthusiasts alike.
