Couples are definitely
looking into destination pre-wedding
and wedding shoots, especially now that
air travel has gotten very affordable for
everyone.
AlexTan (AT):
When I started out, couples
preferred more close-up portraits and
natural editing and they were more
cost-conscious. Most of my customers
now accept my style of (more dramatic)
photo-editing so most of the time, they
will give me a free hand at conceptualis-
ing the shoot.
Fiona Lim, who runs FIFOTO Pho-

into place for her when she began sell-
ing her photographs as design fixtures
for show units of new developments
whilst charting a steady path through
corporate-dom. She was recognised as
“Female Photographer of the Year” in
2010 and 2011 by Weddings and Portrait
Photographers Malaysia (WPPM).

Photographers by Signature Weddings
Magazine (2012) shares a similar tale.
Having picked up photography through
Facebook, he was a freelancer for three
years but went full-swing into it in 2011
before setting up his own gallery, Alextan
Artworks in 2012.
How has consumer demand for pre-
wedding photography evolved?

The trends vary from
storybook/narrative albums, to “Trash-
The-Dress” sessions, to vintage and
motion-picture themed shoots. Currently,
we have requests for high-fashion photog-
raphy, with videography coming into the
picture. As a photographer, besides keep-
ing up with trends, it is also important to
