Pasta, all of which comes highly recom-
mended. The warm Chocolate Brownie
that I had in the end was a suitable ending
to such a satisfying meal. The menu also
features pizzas that are baked in the hotel’s
very own wood oven, which is something
I will be sure to try on my next trip.
As I fancied a drink after dinner, I
headed over to the hotel’s very own pub,
The Best Brew, which serves hand crafted
beers from around the world as well as
other alcoholic beverages. It was the per-
fect way to end an evening as I lounged on
the cozy chairs while watching sports and
sipped on a pint of beer in air-conditioned
comfort before heading to bed.
The next day, I decided to go for an
early morning swim at the hotel’s very
own pool by the beach area with an
expansive view of the ocean. After a few
laps, I went for a short stroll on the beach
right outside the hotel. The best part
about the beach here is that it is quieter
than other beaches on the island as Four
Points by Sheraton Penang is the only
hotel on this little stretch, so I got to enjoy
the peace and quiet as though I was on a
private beach.
Famished from the swim, I then headed
over to The Eatery for a tasty breakfast
where I enjoyed a Malaysian and inter-
national buffet spread. There was plenty
to choose from, and although you would
find the usual offerings at most hotels, the
delicious taste made up for that. I couldn’t
get enough of the freshly made omelette
by the chef in the open kitchen. After all,
howoften is it that you have eggs specially
prepared for you, just the way you like it?
After breakfast, I went out to explore
the best that Penang had to offer, especially
in its abundance of food! Coming back
to the hotel in the evening after a whole
day out, I made my way to the 24-hour
fitness centre that comes equipped with
a wide variety of facilities. In the gym, I
found a range of free weights and cardio
machines to aid in my mission of burning
off calories, especially after indulging in
multiple plates of fried char kway teow.
I also found out that the hotel offers
complimentary yoga classes for in-house
guests out on the hotel’s patio every
Sunday at 8a.m., so I made it a point to
wake up early the next morning to attend
the class before checking out. This activity
was great in reducing stress and I was able
to enjoymeditation in the sun overlooking
the panoramic oceanfront view.
After a good hour of relaxing yoga, I
then got ready to check out with a heavy
heart, wishing that I had more time to
spend at this lovely hotel. There really is
plenty to discover in the Pearl of the Orient
that is Penang and the strategic position of
the Four Point by Sheraton Penang makes
travelling around for your daily adventures
a real breeze. That is, if you manage to
resist the temptation of staying in to just
laze on your comfy Signature Bed all day
long while enjoying the 24-hour room
service. I certainly struggled with that!
