Singapore International Festival
of Arts (SIFA)
The Singapore International Festival of
Arts is an annual event that celebrates
and acknowledges the brilliance of
the performing arts. It aims to inspire
audiences through great ar t i st ic
experiences in the form of quality acts
in theatre, dance and music. Seeing its
37th year in the industry, SIFA will be
organising a brilliant showcase this year
with its new theme “Legacy and the
Expanded Classic”, which will be directed
by the talented Ong Keng Sen; the first
Singaporean recipient of the National Arts
Council Young Artist Award in 1992 and
the Cultural Medallion in 2003.
This year, the festival will be celebrated
over a period of sixweeks with a total of 12
great shows that includes theatrical plays,
dramas, concerts, dance and two heart
tugging plays involving the exceptional
talent of the disabled community.

international festivals that
acknowledge pure talent and flair.
Made to invoke emotion, stimulate the senses
and leave audiences in awe, the art scene is an
ever-growing industry that infuses traditional and
modern art techniques. Ranging from art, music
and dance to light shows and photography, art
festivals are jam-packedwith brilliant talent made
to be shared and here are the few that we’d like
to share with you.
SIFA will also be conducting a public
engagement initiative called O.P.E.N
(Open, Participate, Enrich, Negotiate)
that’s being introduced as a compre-
hensive and approachable movement
to connect the general public with ideas
and issues in relation to the 2014 festival
theme. Some of the initiatives include
screenings, talks, workshops, dialogues
and performance demonstrations. O.P.E.N.
will run from the June 26 to July 12, 2014
in hopes of creating an atmosphere and a
climate that will welcome the Singapore
International Festival of Arts that starts
on August 12.
