In positioning and branding SACC,
Shuhainie made it a point earlier on to
stick to the slogan ‘Bringing the World
to Shah Alam and Shah Alam to the
World’ which is exactly what SACC has
been doing since she set up the team and
began to lead the centre. SACC has been
the venue of choice for not only local but
also major international events. With its
strategic location in Section 14 Shah Alam,
SACC continues to expand its facilities
particularly in recreational service like
managing Seri Selangor Golf Club early
last year.
“We decided it is time to spread our
wings to become more than just a venue
provider. Starting last year, we began to
position the company and the venue as an
important hospitality service provider. We
are looking into promoting and organising
events as well as expanding our catering
arm,” explains Shuhainie.
The
Space
SACC houses three floors of multi-purpose
convention, exhibition and banquet
facilities along with serviced meeting
rooms for breakout sessions, workshops
as well as cocktail gatherings. The halls on
its ground floor aptly named Shah Alam
1 and Shah Alam 2 were built pillar-less
and with high ceilings to allow easier
space customisation. These two halls can
be opened up into Grand Shah Alam, an
even bigger space with the capacity for up
to 2,800 people. There are also function
rooms on the first and second floors of
SACC. They come complete with PA
system, LCD projectors and a selection of
food menus.
“SACC was purposely built for events
and conventions with comfort and
convenience in mind. The land might not
be so huge but it is smartly utilised. Our
high-ceiling halls make it easier to bring
in high structures and instalments into the
building. Loading and unloading is just a
one floor operation which is another plus
point. As for the guests, they can simply
walk-in from the front entrance without
going through the hassle of going up and
down the building to locate the event
venue,” says Shuhainie when asked about
the design of the building.
The Events
SACC works very closely with PKNS in
developing and nurturing the business.
The convention centre gets a lot of
support from PKNS and other fellow
subsidiaries through strategic alliance and
joint programmes. It is a very symbiotic
relationship, as explained by Shuhainie.
With PKNS currently in the process of
transformation, SACC also helps to realise
its aspiration in enriching life and building
the community, particularly in Selangor.
The result of this support systemcan be
seen in the success of SACC as one of the
major player in MICE sector in Malaysia
today. SACC currently has 52 weeks of
events per year. The convention centre
is a huge hit with consumer events like
wedding exhibitions, moms and babies
expo as well as book fairs just to name
a few. Some of these events take place
twice a year and draw huge crowds from
the vicinity of the family-oriented city of
Shah Alam each time.
Aside from that, SACC’s very own
Ramadhan Buffet is an annual event
anticipated by many during the fasting
month. Although the theme changes every
year, the high quality of its authentic food
remains the same attracting corporate
organisations as well as individuals from
different walks of life.
With so many milestones achieved,
Shuhainie and her team are currently
planning to bring in more international
events to SACCwith the help of PKNS and
the authorities. There will also be more
in-house events planned for the upcoming
months.
“We have organised a lot of concerts
in the past for local singers like Anita
Sarawak, Anuar Zain, Siti Nurhaliza as
well as Indonesian singer Krisdayanti.
On top of that, we have also conducted
Islamic talk shows and a very successful
property expo back in 2011. Bringing in
revenue is one thing but I also see it as a
way tomaximise the potential of our staff.
Since we have the facilities and experience
needed for these kinds of events, why not
organise our own?” says Shuhainie.
