The dining
This is the only hotel in Koh Samui
to serve breakfast daily from 6am to
6pm. The 26 degree restaurant serves
a variety of fusion food, marrying Thai
ingredients with international cuisine
standards. The Rabbit Bar is a stylish
hangout spot facing the infinity pool
which looks out towards the sea.
Whether it be an early evening for
happy hour or a late night out, guests
needn’t even leave the Kala to unwind
for a drink or two.
The service
The Kala takes pride in its professional
service served in a humble manner.
From the time guests step onto the
premises, hotel staff are brimmingwith
smiles and ready to attend to guests’
needs. Service is prompt and efficient
and the staff also ensure guests’ utmost
comfort during their stay. The front
desk is open 24/7 for guests.
waters of the sea, lush green trees and
great rocks dotting the beach. The resort
tapers down towards the rocky beach; the
Kala is a cocoon of tropical trees, sand
and sea combined to serve as any nature
lover’s haven. The myriad of sounds in
the air such as the crashing of the ocean
waves coupled with the chirping of the
birds reinforces the notion of this nature
paradise. With the resort’s ode to Mother
Nature, it isn’t surprising that it is an
eco-friendly green hotel.
The amenities
When guests make a booking at the Kala,
they get to enjoy complimentary snorkel-
ling, kayaking and traditional Thai fishing.
The main snorkelling point in Koh Samui
is right at the doorstep of the Kala. Guests
can snorkel from the rocky beach at the
hotel over to the next beach just 1kmaway
to enjoy the soft sand and have a nice spot
for sunbathing. Guests can kayak to the
next beach or further away if they like but
bear inmind only experienced kayakers or
those confident enough should attempt
this as there is no instructor or life guard
to keep an eye out on kayakers. Fishing
is conducted using long wooden sticks
and any fish caught can be brought to the
resort to be cooked at an additional cost.
The Kala provides free shuttle service
daily to Lamai beach in the morning and
Chaweng beach in the evening.
The Kala offers a 5-hour long Thai
cooking class at additional cost. Guests get
to visit a special private garden whereby
they pick their own produce before con-
tinuing back to the resort to have a go at
producing a Thai dish. The Kala is also
popular as a wedding location; guests can
opt to have their wedding at the resort
on the wooden pavilion overlooking the
sea. By request, trained monkeys can be
brought in to serve as ring bearers.
Like any luxury resort, the Kala doesn’t
go amiss with its first class spa. The Agarin
spa, which in Sanskrit means ‘where time
stands still’, does just that. Soothing Thai
music and aromatic incense greet guests
