Fresh fruit and vegetables
Ladies will have a field day in terms of
shopping along these streets. There are
niche, independent shops that carry an
array of clothes. The one drawback, for
me anyway, is that there are not many
shops carrying men’s clothing. Bangsar
Village 1 and Bangsar Village 2 have a
few men’s shops, but the main focus is
towards ladies clothing.
Those in need of a new hair do or
outdoor goods can find both along
Jalan
Telawi 5
. This street has a Derrick & Team
Salon as well as the UFL Outdoor shop.
I did stumble onto a new pub called
The Speak. Located at the top of
Jalan
Telawi 2
, this sports bar has a very cozy
and inviting atmosphere. Owner Dave
Carpenter has also set up a mini library,
where one can drop off a book and pick
another one up from the bookshelves.
If you walk in without a book and see
something that you like, a RM10 deposit
will allow you to take that book home.
After having a nice cold beer with Car-
penter, I noticed that the sun was slowly
sinking.
This was my cue to head to the
pasar
malam
(night market). The night market
here always has amazingly fresh fruit and
vegetables, along with delicious, local
sweet and savory food. The air was filled
with the smells of food being cooked and
there were many people strolling along
and stopping at various stalls to peruse
what was on sale.
I do not think that my love for Bangsar
Baru will ever wane. With new places
popping up every so often, the streets
of Bangsar always have something new.
Good selection of fresh
vegetables at the night market
