                                                Bazaar Bonanza





                                                As the Ramadan month kicks off and Muslims go about their obligatory fasting period,
                                                the long awaited Ramadan Bazaars start cropping up all over town. Many will head
                                                over to the closest bazaar after work to buka puasa (break fast) and enjoy a night of
                                                good food. In fact, Malaysians of all religions do this!
                                                  Here are some of the popular annual bazaars that crop up around town which you
                                                would not want to miss this month! Do remember to head to these locations early as
                                                parking is scarce and the crowds build up early.

                                                Kampung Baru
                                                Located along Jalan Raja Alang, this is one of the most well known bazaars in the
                                                city. With an array of stalls set up, the most popular picks for this bazaar would be
                                                their Nasi Lemak Antarabangsa, Bubur Lambuk, murtabak, Roti Goreng McGyver and
                                                otak-otak.

                                                Taman Tun Dr. Ismail
                                                Known for its beautiful parks and the iconic One Utama mall, TTDI add’s another win
                                                to its mantle with a celebrated Ramadan Bazaar. Situated at Jalan Tun Mohd Fuad 2,
                                                the bazaar is famed for its Murtabak Raja, nasi tomato, kambing bakar (roasted lamb),
                                                popiah basah (wet spring roll), and fresh lemang.

                                                Bangsar
                                                A food haven on every other day of the year, it is only natural that it is home to a
                                                Ramadan Bazaar of its own. Admittedly smaller than others, it still manages to serve
                                                up delicacies such as nasi dagang, ayam percik, ayam golek, Roti John and their
                                                famous teh-tarik flavoured ice-cream.
                                                Masjid India
                                                During the daytime, Jalan Masjid India attracts many locals and visitors for shopping
                                                but come nightfall during the Ramadan month and this street comes alive with a hive
                                                of activity. The bazaar that sets up here features fantastic options such as nasi kukus,
                                                Malay-style mixed rice, and serunding.

                                                Stadium Shah Alam
                                                Noted as one of the biggest bazaars in the city, the Shah Alam bazaar located at
                                                Padang Dataran Shah Alam becomes a beacon of food, attracting visitors from far and
                                                wide. Its strategic spot of being located in the middle of Shah Alam, Klang and Subang,
            which is traditionally, ‘Selamat Hari Raya’   coupled with a large parking space make this a hotspot on the food map. Look out
            (Happy Raya) and ‘Maaf Zahir dan Batin’   for nasi dagang, cekodok durian, S.S. Ali popiah (spring rolls), nasi goreng ayam

              Some of the most popular traditional
            delicacies to line most dining tables dur-
            ing this festive season would be glistering
            serunding (spicy, fried coconut flakes)
            which serves as the perfect companion for
            any rice or bread dish, juicy satay and soft
            fluffy ketupats (type of dumpling made
            from rice), coming together with rich
            peanut sauce, thick, savoury and aromatic
            rendang which is often cooked for hours
            to garner a depth of flavour, the spicy yet
            sour asam pedas and lemang, the glutinous
            rice snack that is usually eaten with curry.
